On August 22nd, the Qingdao Daily/ Guanhai News reported that on August 21st, the provincial inspection team composed of the General Office of the Shandong Provincial Government, in conjunction with the Provincial Department of Transport, Qingdao Customs, Shandong Maritime Safety Administration, Shandong Exit-Entry Frontier Inspection General Station, etc., conducted an inspection of berths D8 and D9 of Huaneng Terminal Phase II Project and berths D20 and D21 of Datang Terminal Phase II in Dongjiakou Port. They agreed to officially activate these berths for external use.
The inspection team inspected berths D8, D9, D20, and D21 on-site, examined the port inspection sites, business rooms, and related supporting facilities, and listened to the report of the Municipal Port Office on the external activation and construction of the berths. Through on-site inspections and expert reviews, the inspection team unanimously believed that the new berths comply with the relevant regulations in the "Notice of the General Office of the Shandong Provincial People's Government on Printing and Distributing the Management Measures for Foreign-related Operating Points within the Open Scope of Water Transport Ports in Shandong Province", meet the needs of inspection work, and have the conditions for external activation. Members of the inspection team, together with the Municipal Port Office and Qingdao Port Group, jointly signed the "Meeting Minutes of the External Activation Inspection". After being submitted to the provincial government for approval, the above-mentioned four berths will be officially activated for external use.
The four berths that passed the inspection this time are key projects for Shandong Port to accelerate integration into local economic development and contribute to the transformation of old and new drivers of growth in Shandong Province. Berths D8 and D9 of Huaneng Terminal Phase II Project (both 50,000-ton class), with an annual design throughput capacity of 5.69 million tons, are mainly used for loading and unloading cargoes such as hardware, coke, coal, and petroleum coke. Berth D20 (100,000-ton class) and berth D21 (50,000-ton class) of Datang Terminal Phase II, with an annual design throughput capacity of 6.50 million tons, are mainly used for loading and unloading cargoes such as hardware, frozen fish, and coke.
Since the integrated development, Shandong Port has adhered to the development concepts of "Three Satisfactions" and "Three Enhancements", vigorously promoting the integrated development of port, industry, and city. Qingdao Port of Shandong Port has implemented the relevant deployment requirements, attached great importance to it, and continuously accelerated the construction of various key projects in Dongjiakou Port. In order to accelerate the release of the production capacity of port berths, effectively improve the utilization efficiency of coastline resources and the comprehensive service capacity of the port, and achieve quality and efficiency improvement through "replacement of old growth drivers with new ones".
To ensure the early operation of the berths, the Municipal Port Office has visited the frontline of port enterprises many times, helping enterprises solve practical problems in the process of berth construction and inspection, actively contacting and connecting with relevant provincial departments, and promptly handling temporary external opening procedures for enterprises, empowering the high-quality development of the port. The simultaneous successful passing of the external activation inspection of berths D8, D9, D20, and D21 has set a new record for the largest number of berths activated at one time in our city, greatly enhancing the transportation capacity of Dongjiakou Port, with an annual increase of 12 million tons of transportation capacity, laying a good foundation for subsequent densification of the port's route network. At the same time, it is of great significance for vigorously promoting the integrated development of port, industry, and city, giving full play to the role of Qingdao as a "key hub port", optimizing the layout of port opening, promoting the transformation and upgrading of ports, enhancing the level of opening up to the outside world, and better serving the high-quality development of the regional economy and accelerating the construction of the Northeast Asia International Shipping Hub Center.
